Punahou, Galdiano rally to capture girls' state golf titles


 



Punahou's Mariel Galdiano overcame a two-stroke first-round deficit to capture the David Ishii State girls' golf championship Tuesday at the Turtle Bay Fazio Course.

Galdiano's effort, along with Aiko Leong's, also helped the Buffanblu rally from a four-stroke deficit to first-round leader 'Iolani to win the team championship with a 426. The Raiders were second at 429.

Galdiano, who finished at 138, trailed 'Iolani's Keilyn Ing after the first round. Ing, who shot a 68 on Monday, led Galdiano by two strokes. Ing finished tied for fourth at 143. Leong finished second at 140.

Galdiano and Leong each shot 68s in Tuesday's final round.
