In the 5:00 p.m. game of the opening day of the 'Iolani Classic, Fuxin from Liaoning, China gave White Station from Memphis, Tennessee their best shot after taking a 31-28 lead at halftime.
However, the Spartans were a different team in the second half and they outscored and overwhelmed the New Star 24-6 in the third quarter.
White Station had four scorers in double digits. Forward Curtis Phillips scored a team-high 22 points and made two three pointers. Nych Smith, LaDarius Coleman and Davell Roby each added 10 points.
Feng Jiawei scored 20 points to lead Fuxin and made three 3-pointers.
White Station will play Mount Vernon of New York at 3:30 on 12/19 while Fuxin plays Kaiser in the consolation bracket at 9:30 on 12/19.
