Moanalua sent eight batters to the plate in a four-run first then held off Kapolei, 7-4, in the opening round of the DataHouse Division I state softball tournament Tuesday at Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.

Na Menehune will meet fourth-seeded Hilo in a quarterfinal set for 1 p.m. Wednesday.

Chrissi Omalza batted 3 for 4, scoring three runs. Her two-run single ignited the four-run first inning against losing pitcher Kacee Navarro.

Cyanne Fernandez's two-run double in the sixth secured Moanalua's lead.

Leisha Yamaguchi pitched seven innings of relief, allowing two runs, both unearned, and three hits to get the win. Starter Ariel Ajimura faced only three batters, allowing two runs, a hit and a walk.

Amayha Dyan batted 2 for 3 with an RBI for the Hurricanes.

Kapolei committed six errors in the game.
