Kalani (5-6, 6-9) 11 2 8 223

K. Pu'ulei-Auld 14 pts  2 3pm  0/0 FTs

Moanalua pulled away from Kalani from the second quarter onward in a 47-23 road victory.

Kahanu Puʻulei-Auld drained a three pointer as time ran out in the first quarter, and Na Menehune regained the lead 13-11 for good.

From that point forward, a stingy Moanalua defense shut down the Falcons holding the home team to only 2 points in the second quarter for a 21-13 halftime margin. The lead was up to 10 by the end of the third quarter, and then Kalani had another scoring drought with another two point quarter as a combination of tight Na Menehune ball-hawking defense and cold shooting from the perimeter made the final score 47-23.

Moanaluaʻs Coach Greg Tacon was happy with his teamʻs defensive effort:"I thought we really, really played well on the defensive side. This team is so consistent defensively from day one. Just the attitude we have that weʻre trying to take away stuff teams like to do. Itʻs contagious and we communicate and itʻs going to take us a long way."

Kahanu Puʻulei-Auld led the Na Menehune scoring with 14 points and Eliet Donley contributed 10. Alex Tungpalan paced the Falcons with three treys for nine points.

Moanalua (8-1) travels to Kahuku (6-3) on Friday, while Kalani (5-4) takes on Farrington (6-3).
