HALAWA - Reece Foy ran in a pair of touchdowns and threw for 156 yards to lead 'Iolani to a 26-7 non-league win over Radford Saturday in the nightcap of the 48th Annual Father Bray Football Classic at Aloha Stadium.

The Raiders, the four-time defending Division II state champions, jumped out to 26-0 lead and were never threatened by the Division I Rams, of the Oahu Interscholastic Association's Red West Conference.

'Iolani coach Wendell Look admitted his team was not at its best, but was happy to walk away with the victory.

"Like I told our players, 'Anytime you can win a game, it's a good win,'" said Look. "(Radford coach) Fred (Salanoa) and I were kind of laughing after the game, saying it was kind of a comedy of errors, but that's what preseason is for and this team is very young and they'll make a lot of mistakes, but I was pleased with their effort and their aggressiveness on how they played."

Radford, who is replacing numerous starters on offense including quarterback Maika Ulufale and wide receiver TJ Reid, struggled throughout the contest before punching in a late score. The Rams were held to 83 rushing yards and just 51 through the air.

"We've got to make a lot of adjustments," Salanoa said. "Some were minor mistakes, but very, very crucial: holding, jumping offsides, substitution stuff - those minor things that will hurt us if we continue to do that throughout the season."

Neither team could muster a score in the opening quarter. The Raiders got on the board with a 55-yard touchdown run by Kody Mento with five minutes and 17 seconds left before the half. On the scoring play, Mento took the handoff from Foy, cut to his left at the line of scrimmage, followed a line of blockers and made his way down the left sideline en route to the end zone. Jordan Lee added the extra point to give his team a 7-0 lead at the half.

'Iolani's defense pressured Rams' quarterback Mike Vito all night, despite getting just one sack. He was hurried into many throws, including a desperation heave early in the third quarter. With defensive lineman Jonathan Like-Uehara closing in, Vito tried to get rid of the ball near the right flat, but linebacker Yuuya Umezawa made a leaping interception near the Radford 8-yard line and easily returned it for a touchdown.

"It was a busted play, kind of," Umezawa said. "I adjusted after (Like-Uehara) he got into the backfield, but I had his assignment. The ball came up and I just caught it and ran into the end zone."

The extra point was no good to give 'Iolani an 13-0 lead with 9:44 left in the third quarter.

Following a Radford punt on its next drive, the Raiders' orchestrated a five-play, 53-yard drive that was highlighted by a 13-yard keeper by Foy. The 5-foot-11, 170-pound junior faked a handoff to Lee - who was in motion from left to right - and sprinted around the left end for the score. The PAT hit the left upright and was no good to make it 19-0 after three quarters.

Foy scored his second touchdown on a similar play minutes into the fourth quarter. His 3-yard keeper around left end with 9:30 to play make it 26-0 after Lee's extra point. The play was set-up by a 34-yard pass from Foy to Sheldon Gallarde on fourth-and-24 from the Rams' 37.

"It wasn't a pretty one, but anytime we can get one (win), in the Father Bray (game) especially, it's always sweet," said Foy, who finished 14-of-23 passing with no interceptions.

Mento carried 20 times for 118 yards for the Raiders.

Chris Jackson scored Radford's lone touchdown on a 1-yard dive in the closing minutes.
