Offensive Player of the Year: Brayden Medeiros, Campbell, QB, Sr.

Medeiros had big shoes to fill after the departure of the state's all-time career passing leader Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele, and accomplished that task in a way not even his predecessor could, bringing a first Open state football title back to Ewa Beach. The 6-foot-1 senior threw for 1,838 yards and 21 touchdowns and recorded two or more passing scores in seven games, including a three TD performance in the title game win over Kamehameha, where his 17 yard pass to Zayne Pasion in the overtime period gave the Sabers the walk-off win. He gained just 23 yards on 32 carries on the ground with one score, but that lone scamper to the end zone was a crucial one, a game-winning scramble in the closing moments to seal a state berth in a 14-10 win over Mililani.

Defensive Player of the Year: Tainoa Lave, Campbell, DB, Sr.

In whatever phase of the game the Sabers needed him, Lave was equal to the task. The senior defensive back was a key cog for the Sabers, recording a reported 77 tackles (10 for loss), four sacks, two interceptions and three forced fumbles, which inlcuded an pick-six for a score. On offense, Lave ran the wildcat to the tune of 86 yards and three scores, all of them coming in the state tournament play. For good measure, the 5-foot-10 senior added a punt return for a TD in the regular season against Leilehua. In the Open Division finale against Kamehameha, Lave recorded 10 1/2 tackles, one for a loss and added a rushing touchdown.

Coach of the Year: Darren Johnson, Campbell

Johnson made his first appearance in the a state championship game count, with the aforementioned walk-off win over the Warriors the icing on the cake in a playoff run that included a stunning win over Kahuku in the semifinals. Campbell took an unorthodox path to claim its second title, finishing fourth in the final regular season standings of the Oahu Interscholastic Association and third in the league tournament, but caught fire states, upsetting the Red Raiders, 15-12, in the semis before its ultimate triumph over the Warriors in the finale. The Sabers were 0-6 all-time in Open Division state tournament games prior to this season.
