SALT LAKE—Alakai Yuen and Ryan Ramones put on a show on Friday night as Moanalua spoiled the return of their former coach to upend Kaiser, 35-0, in a Oahu Interscholastic Association Blue game at the Na Menehune's field.

Moanalua improved to 3-2 overall, 2-2 league, while Kaiser fell to 2-4 overall, 1-4 league.

Arnold Martinez, who coached at Moanalua, made his first return since stepping down after the 2013 season.

Ryan Ramones had 206 receiving yards and two scores at intermission to finish with 219 yards and four touchdowns for the game.

"We can't let up, we just got to keep going. Don't let them catch up and you just got to keep grinding just like how we have been. It is just a blessing. I try to do my best every day, every practice, and to improve," said Ramones.

"Offensive mindset was that we were trying to spread out the ball. I've been using Ryan and he has been effective, helping me a lot and making my job easier," said Yuen.

Alakai Yuen was 19 of 28 for 286 passing yards and four touchdowns— all to Ramones, and one interception.

Ramones scored from a 15-yard pass from Yuen and then hauled in a 76-yard touchdown to make it, 14-0 early.

Isaiah Jackson scored on a 44-yard interception return, but the kick was blocked to make it, 19-0 after the first quarter.

Yuen and Ramones hooked up again for 39 and 13 yard scores. Tyler Soucie added six tackles and had a sack resulting in a safety for the Na Menehune.

"When I am in trouble I count on him to make the plays which he does. That's what we do in practice, we always work on it," said Yuen.

The defense stepped up for the Na Menehune to intercept Kainoa Torres and Andrew Kaufusi twice and held the Cougars to 53 yards of net offense.

"Every week is the same mindset. We come together as one and hopefully we will go for a goose egg. We worked very hard in practice this week and we showed up tonight. The coaches stressed to keep putting gas on the pedal and to keep it going and not to let up," said Jackson.

"I have 100 percent trust in our defense and that's why we do some wild things on offense. Since we have full trust in our D we know they'll come out on top, they'll help us out, and we will get good field position again. A lot of those things the defense gives us, the flexibility in personal and in terms of just game play alone that's huge for us because it always us to stretch our boarders," said Moanalua coach Savaii Eselu.

Kainoa Craig led the team with eight tackles and Tyson Creekmur added six tackles and two sacks for Kaiser.

The Na Menehune head to Ewa Beach to take on Campbell on Sept. 16. The Cougars host their final two games against Aiea and Kahuku.
