Offensive Player of the Year: Kyan Miyasato, Hilo, QB, Sr.
Kyan Miyasato shattered the record books this year.

More importantly, he finished the season as a champion.

The 5-foot-11, 160-pound quarterback completed 62.5 percent of his passes for 3,073 yards and 45 touchdowns against just four interceptions in 2019.

Miyasato threw a TD pass in each of the Vikings' 14 games this year, with five TD performances in the second round game against Kealakehe and the BIIF D1 title game against Konawaena.

He was also efficient in the clutch, helping Hilo rally from a 17-3 halftime deficit to win the state championship over Iolani, 20-17.

As a team, the Vikings averaged 50.3 points and 366.1 yards per game, including 226.1 through the air.

Defensive Player of the Year: Meki Pei, Iolani, LB, Sr.
Meki Pei brought his best when the games mattered the most.

The 6-foot, 180-pound linebacker recorded three of his four forced fumbles in the postseason, including two in the ILH playoff game against Damien. Pei was responsible for two forced fumbles against the Monarchs, including one that highlighted a goal line stand by the Raiders, who turned it into a 99-yard touchdown pass on the very next play.

Against Moanalua in the state semifinals, Pei notched nine tackles and two interceptions, including a 28-yard pick-six. In the state championship final against Hilo a month later, Pei recorded a season-high 10 1/2 tackles, including one for a loss, had one pass break-up and forced a fumble late in the contest. He also scored on a 94-yard punt return in the loss to the Vikings.

Pei anchored an Iolani defense that held teams to 16.3 points per game.

Coach of the Year: Kaeo Drummondo, Hilo

In a division full of parity, the best team came out on top.

Drummondo's Vikings went 14-0 in 2019 en route to their second state championship in three years.

Hilo did it with a crushing defense that scored 76 points while holding opponents to 6.3 points per game.
