The Queen's Health System

Exploring Our History

We are, and always will be, dedicated to improving the health of Native Hawaiians and all of the people of Hawai‘i. It was 1859, more than 160 years ago, that Queen’s began with a single hospital founded by Queen Emma and King Kamehameha IV to provide in perpetuity health care and healing for the people of Hawai‘i. Today, that mission remains the same, but now extends to four hospitals and 70 health care centers and labs throughout Hawai‘i and the Pacific Basin.

Why Choose Queen's?

We’re the largest private healthcare system in Hawai‘i.

One of our four hospitals, Queen’s Medical Center, is the major referral center for cancer, heart disease, neuroscience, orthopedics, surgery, emergency medicine and behavioral health. We also have the state’s only organ transplant program and level one trauma center.

We put you first.

Our nearly 8,000 employees and more than 1,400 physicians with 1,000 specialists statewide take and uphold a pledge to put you first. Our diverse and exceptionally qualified medical team delivers care and treatments that are continually advancing through education and research.

We have expanded access and connections.

We know that top-quality care is important to you and have expanded access to primary care, urgent care and specific specialty services. And, much like the unique islands of Hawai‘i, we’re a diverse group and remain connected and united by our mission so you receive the greatest benefit. With the click of a button, a phone call, or helicopter ride, we can quickly connect you to the specialized care you need – and deserve.

We treat you like members of our ‘ohana.

We believe that well-informed patients are more active in improving their health, and we value shared-decision making. We partner with you every step of the way.

Compassion, aloha, respect and excellence – it’s the Queen Emma Way.
