Brackets set for HHSAA girls volleyball tourney


Defending Division I champion Punahou and Division II winner Saint Francis are top seeds for the New City Nissan/HHSAA girls volleyball tournament beginning Tuesday through Friday.

In Division I play, first round action will get underway at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday with King Kekaulike taking on Moanalua at McKinley and Hilo taking on Pearl City at Farrington. In the second match of the night set for 7:00 p.m., Mililani and Castle face off at McKinley and Kamehameha-Kapalama will battle Kalani at Farrington.

Punahou, Kahuku, Kamehameha-Maui and Kamehameha-Hawaii all have first round byes.

In Division II, first round action at Kalani begins at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday with Hana facing Kaimuki in the first game and Waimea taking on Kailua at 7. At Farrington, Konawaena and La Pietra play at 5:00 p.m., with Hawaii Baptist-Hawaii Prep to follow.

Saint Francis, Farrington, Seabury and Kau await winners of first round matches.
