AIEA - Three rushing touchdowns by Mana Kaahanui and a spectacular performance by the Aiea defense sealed a dominating victory for the Na Alii over the Castle Knights.

Coming off a blowout win against the Kaimuki Bulldogs the previous week, Na Alii (2-0) continued to show off their high powered offense in a 32-6 win Thursday night.

"It's always good to get a win," said Aiea coach Wendell Say. "We need to improve a lot… could have done better."

Na Alii got on the scoreboard first in the first quarter of play at 6:30 mark. With both teams going three and out on their first three series, Aiea finished a drive with a 14 yard field that came off the foot of junior Jae Won Huh.

The Aiea kicker would score another field goal towards the middle second quarter, this time going for 35 yards. Huh would finish 2/3 on field goals for the night.

"(Jae Won) is definitely a weapon for us," said Say "He's so valuable as a kicker."

Aiea would continue to show their no huddle offense and score two touchdowns before halftime. The first was a pitch and catch from Aiea senior quarterback Isaiah Hernandez-Fonoti, who finished 18-of-31 for 241 yards, to receiver Johnathan Gray. The second touchdown would come with about 1:40 left to go until the end of the second quarter. A hand off straight up the middle to junior Mana Kaahanui gave the Na Alii a 19-0 lead going into the half.

"I'm thankful for it," said Kaahanui. "I like to thank my linemen and my coach."

Kaahanui would score two more touchdowns in the second half. The first was straight up the middle with about two minutes to go in the third for two yards. The second came having to fight and maneuver his way through the line for a three yard score. Kaahanui would finish the night with 64 yards on 12 attempts with three touchdowns.

"Mana's one of those players we can play at any position," said Say. "He's a good player to have."

The Knights were able to catch a slight break in the second half. With 4:16 to go in the third quarter, junior Brandon Makekau was about to pick off a pass from Aiea and return it 70 yards for a pick six.

"They play with a lot of heart," said Say. "I give them credit," he continued.

Although the offense for Aiea was able to rack up points on the board, it was the defense that really stepped up for the home team. With the win tonight, the Na Alii allow on average six points per game to go along with one interception per night.

"It's good for them so they can really believe in what we are trying to do," said Say. "They're really showing us a lot of potential for this season."
