Kamehameha basketball and volleyball standout Micah Christenson and Island School distance runner Pierce Murphy lead this year's class of inductees into the Hawai'i High School Athletic Association Hall of Honor.
Twelve outstanding senior athletes were chosen among 74 applicants this past weekend by a 14-member selection panel of coaches, administrators and members of the media.
The 12 inductees are:
- Kalei Adolpho, Moloka'i (basketball, volleyball, track, cross country)
- Micah Christenson, Kamehameha (basketball, volleyball)
- Chrissy Chow, Punahou (judo, wrestling)
- Caprice Dydasco, Kamehameha (soccer)
- Koa Ka'ai, Kamehameha (football, track and field)
- Leisha Li'ili'i, Castle (softball, basketball)
- Marcus Mariota, Saint Louis (football, soccer, track)
- Pierce Murphy, Island School (track, cross country, soccer)
- Zhane Santiago, Kahuku (track, soccer)
- Shea Shimabukuro, Kaua'i (football, baseball)
- Kailea Tracy-Visintainer, Seabury Hall (track, cross country, swimming)
- Maiki Viela, Lahainaluna (basketball)
Christenson led the Warriors to state championships in basketball and volleyball. Murphy, a record holder in distance running, is the first inductee from Island School on Kaua'i.
Adolpho led the Farmers to a Division II state title in basketball, and Chow is a four-time state champ in judo and three-time state champion in wrestling.
Dydasco was a three-time All-State selection, and Ka'ai was a first-team All-State defensive end.
Li'ili'i made the All-State Tournament team four straight years in softball and Mariota was the State Offensive Player of the Year in football.
Santiago was a four-year standout in track and All-State selection in soccer. Shimabukuro led Kaua'i High to the Division II state title in baseball and quarterbacked the Red Raiders to a league title in football.
Viela was the State Player of the Year as a junior and Tracy-Visintainer was a multiple gold medal winner in track.
The 12 honorees will be formally inducted at a banquet June 5 at Sheraton Waikiki.
