Kapolei rode yet another strong outing from starter Winona Pauline to improve to 7-2 on the season, downing Campbell, 9-3, in the second game of the night at Central Oahu Regional Park.

Pauline went the distance for the Hurricanes, allowing three earned runs on seven hits and striking out ten.

Kapolei consistently got leadoff batters on base, and used some aggressive tactics on the basepaths, scoring a run in each of the first four innings to jump out to a 4-0 lead.

Not willing to go down without a fight, Campbell would mount a rally in the top of the fifth, as leadoff batter Nashlyn Anguay would get on base after being hit by a pitch, and would advance to second on a Pauline offering that would get away from the catcher.

Pauline would settle down after a wild start to the inning, striking out the next two batters, but Jessica Arata would lace a two-out single up the middle to score Anguay, putting Campbell on the board. Then on the very next pitch, Sharae Esprecion would blast a two-run shot over the left field fence to close the gap to 4-3.

Kapolei would add a run in the bottom of the fifth to extend the lead to 5-3, and Pauline would fan two more in an up-and-down sixth inning for Campbell.

Four runs in the sixth inning for the Hurricanes would add more than enough insurance for Pauline. Mikela Manewa's double off the wall in left scored Elizabeth Tuason, who led off the inning with a walk, from second. Pauline would follow with a single to right-center to score Manewa, and Kacee Navarro would cap the inning with a deep ball to left that cleared the fence for a two-run shot.

In the top of the seventh, Pauline would record strikeouts nine and ten before surrendering a ground-rule double to Esprecion, and then induced a grounder back to the mound to end it.
