Wilson MacLeod hit a 15-foot jump shot with two seconds remaining last night to lift Academy of the Pacific to a 39-37 road victory at 'Iolani.
The Dolphins improved to 7-1 and remain in first place atop the Interscholastic League of Honolulu standings, a half-game ahead of Punahou (6-1). The Raiders fell to 4-3.
'Iolani guard Austin O'Leary drained a 3-pointer from the top of the key to tie the game at 37-37 with 20 seconds left, capping a fourth-period comeback after AOP led, 32-23, after three quarters.
On the ensuing possession, AOP hurried the ball downcourt, and after a few passes, got the ball to MacLeod, who elevated and released just moments before the buzzer.
The Dolphins used a 9-0 run capped by David Daniel's layup to take an 11-5 lead with 2:22 remaining in the first period. 'Iolani closed it to 14-10 by the end of the quarter and tied the score at 21-21 on Erik Yamada's 65-foot, line drive heave that swished through the net at the halftime buzzer.
MacLeod, a senior forward, led all scorers with 13 points.
