Hawaii Baptist tops Konawaena in 4

Saint Francis, Leilehua, Sacred Hearts and Hawai'i Baptist each advanced to tonight's New City Nissan/Hawai'i High School Athletic Association Division II State Championship semifinals after quarterfinal victories last night.

No. 1 HBA was the lone seeded team to advance, as No. 2 Roosevelt, No. 3 Hawai'i Prep and No. 4 Seabury Hall were upended.

In the DII semifinals at Kalani, Hawai'i Baptist (13-1) will meet Leilehua (9-7) at 5 p.m., followed by Sacred Hearts (12-4) vs. Saint Francis (11-2) at 7 in a meeting of Interscholastic League of Honolulu rivals.

Here is a capsule look at last night's matches:

QUARTERFINALS

Leilehua def. Seabury Hall, 18-25, 25-23, 25-20, 24-26, 15-11

Mariessa Carrasco had 19 kills, Ashlee Vaoifi added 17 kills and one ace and Kayla Kilaulani finished with 16 kills, one block and three aces to lead the Mules.

Lena Fox led the Spartans with 14 kills and two aces, Brooke Sturdevant added 11 kills and one ace and Regal Deen-Jackson contributed six kills and three blocks. Seabury Hall fell to 12-1 and will face Konawaena (17-2) in today's 5 p.m. consolation bracket elimination match at Kaimuki.

Hawai'i Baptist def. Konawaena, 19-25, 25-20, 25-21, 25-21

CJ Asuncion had 13 kills and Tiffany Thompson added 10 kills to lead the Eagles.

Courtney Kaupu led the Wildcats with 13 kills and Jasmine Ward added 11 kills and two aces.

St. Francis def. Roosevelt, 29-27, 25-10, 25-15

Angel Savea had 11 kills, Harlee Meyers added nine kills and six aces and Kololia Atoa-Williams finished with nine kills and four blocks to lead the Saints.

Jasmine Fujimoto had six kills, one block and one ace and Kaitlin Hazama added five kills for the Rough Riders, who fell to 11-7 and will play Hawai'i Prep (13-5) in tonight's 7 o'clock consolation bracket elimination match at Kaimuki.

Sacred Hearts def. Hawai'i Prep, 25-20, 25-14, 25-13

The Lancers improved to 12-4 after upsetting the No. 3-seeded Ka Makani.

CONSOLATION BRACKET

Radford def. Kaua'i, 25-15, 23-25, 25-22, 8-4

Samantha Mason and Imani Wimbush each had 10 kills to lead the Rams in a match that ended with the 70-minute time limit.

Reanna Javinar led the Red Raiders (11-4) with seven kills and Leiana Alejandro added six kills and four aces.

Radford will play Moloka'i (9-6) in tomorrow's 8 a.m. consolation final at Blaisdell Arena.

Moloka'i def. Ka'u, 25-17, 23-25, 25-22, 6-3

The Farmers eliminated the Trojans (13-6) in a match shortened by the 70-minute time limit.
