Kaiser, Kapolei advance to Red title game


In a game that went past regulation even in penalty kicks, Kapolei beat Mililani, 2-1, Thursday night in the semifinals of the O'ahu Interscholastic Association Red boys' soccer tournament at Roosevelt.

The Hurricanes beat the Trojans, 6-5, in penalty kicks after the two were still tied after both made their five penalty kicks.

In the other semifinal, Kaiser beat Roosevelt, 2-1, after winning the penalty kicks tie-breaker, 4-1.

The Hurricanes and Cougars will play for the Red title 7 p.m. Saturday at Roosevelt.

In the third-place game Saturday at Moanalua, Mililani will play Roosevelt at 5:30 p.m. and Moanalua will face 'Aiea at 7 p.m. for fifth place.

At 5 p.m., Waipahu will play Radford for the White title. Both have cinched Division II state berths.
