If anything, Mililani was not going to get beat by Tiana Fujimoto.

The Trojans' triple-team effort against the state's leading scorer in Division I paid off in a 3-1 win against Moanalua Saturday night for O'ahu Interscholastic Association Red girls' soccer title.

It was Mililani's third crown in a row and 13th overall.

"They basically did a great job denying us," Moanalua coach Nikki Dela Pena said. "Not only did they double us, they tripled Tiana. They shut her down."

Fujimoto led the East, as well as the state, with 23 goals.

"She (stopper Madison Reed) was supposed to man-mark her and everyone (else) was just adjusting," Mililani sweeper Kristen Fujinaga said. "She (Fujimoto) has excellent footwork. We wanted to stand her up, give her no space and just shut her down."

Although tripling Fujimoto meant other players might be free, the Trojans still managed to keep them from getting off many shots.

"We just made sure everyone was sure of what was happening," Reed said. "Make sure everybody knows where the ball goes and mark up every other open player."

Storm Kenui punched in Na Menehune's sole goal at near the 65th minute.

"They've got really good skills up front," Mililani coach Ray Akiona said. "Just to hold them to that is an accomplishment for our team."

The Trojans took a 2-0 lead in the first half on goals by TJ Reyno's first of two on the night and Taylor Oldani. They made it 3-0 early in the second half on Reyno's second goal. Both of her goals were assisted by Shyani Terukina.
