Campbell boys, Pearl City girls win OIA dual meet titles

'EWA BEACH - Campbell's boys and Pearl City's girls captured the O'ahu Interscholastic Association Dual Meet championships Saturday at Campbell's gym.

The Sabers won their second consecutive dual meet title, beating out Pearl City, Kahuku and Farrington.

The Chargers beat out 'Aiea, Kahuku and Farrington.

The dual meet featured the top two teams from each division competing in a round-robin format.

In a girls' match, Kahuku's Libby Petrie defeated defending state champion Sanoe Spencer of Pearl City, 7-5, in the 220-pound weight class.

"I've been losing to her since ninth grade," Petrie said. "It feels kind of amazing."

In the boys, two-time defending state champion Raynald Cooper of Pearl City didn't compete for a second consecutive weekend.

Campbell boys who participated Saturday were: Brandon Perez (108), Zachary Kido (114), Matthew Sunajo (120), Ryan Fernandez and Shayden Bejer (both in 125), Bryson Pantastico (130), Aries Pihi (135), Miles Whelan and Keanu Richardson (both in 140), Destry Kaniho-Dolor (145), Nathaniel Penalver (152), Michael Lankford and Nelson Snapp (both in 160), Jeff Takazono (171), Kahu Sebala (189), Sheldon Maae (215) and Isaiah Thompson (285).

Pearl City's girls who competed were: Tyra Pascua (98), Joey Nahnta (103), Kacie Prado (108), Xandria Ford (114), Kaimiloa Evans (120), Mylinda Jefferson (155), Jamie Ramos (125), Jeanelle Ben (130), Charmagne Monis (140), Janelle Fuamatu (175) and Spencer (220.

The divisional individual meets will be held Jan. 22. The East will be at Farrington and the West at Radford.
