Finding its shooting touch again after losing it last weekend, 'Iolani drained seven 3-pointers and made 20 of 30 free throws Tuesday night to hold off visiting Mid-Pacific, 65-55, in Interscholastic League of Honolulu girls basketball action.

The Raiders, who reached last season's state semifinals, even their ILH record at 1-1. The Owls fell to 0-2.

'Iolani shot just 13 of 67 from the field during a 49-47 loss to Kamehameha in last Saturday's league opener, but heated up quickly Tuesday night.

After sophomore forward Abrianna Johnson-Edwards scored nine points to help the Raiders go up, 14-13, after one period, Kylie Maeda swished two 3-pointers and Saphyre Rezentes added another during a 12-2 run to open the second period and stretch 'Iolani's lead to 26-15. MPI closed it to 26-19 after two free throws by Taylor Babbitt and Ashley Yamachika's layup with 2:22 remaining in the half, but the Raiders responded with a 9-2 run capped by Rezentes' two free throws with no time left.

Rezentes then scored eight points as 'Iolani opened the second half with a 12-0 run to make it 47-21, and the Owls never got closer than the final score.

Rezentes, a junior wing, scored all 17 of her points in the second and third periods. Alex Masaquel, a sophomore post, added 11 points.

Babbitt led Mid-Pacific with 17 points and Mahina Docktor added 13 points.
