KALIHI — There's no slowing down the Big Red Machine.

No. 1 Kahuku dominated the first half to roll past No. 14 Farrington, 48-20, in a OIA matchup at Edward ‘Skippa' Diaz Stadium at Kusunoki Field Friday.

The Red Raiders (4-0 overall) racked up 344 yards of total offense to win their 26th-straight game over a Hawaii opponent and hand the Governors (2-1 overall, 1-0 OIA) their first loss.

Kahuku will see where it stands against California powerhouses in the next two weeks. The Red Raiders travel to face Mater Dei (Santa Ana, California), the top-ranked team in the MaxPrep National rankings and the following week host third-ranked St. John Bosco (Bellflower, California).

Vaaimalae Fonoti rushed for 167 yards on 12 carries and pair of touchdowns and caught another.

Tulilele Tagovailoa-Amosa threw for 66 yards on 4-of-7 passing with a touchdown and scored on a 37-yard keeper and had four rushing attempts for 54 yards.

Tagovailoa-Amosa left the game momentarily after a roughing-the-passer penalty, but came back at the 3:23 mark in the second quarter to throw a 35-yard touchdown to Bryant Lauano.

Sitani Suguturaga went 3-for-3 for 59 passing yards and threw a screen pass to Fonoti for a 44-yard touchdown.

Sitani Mikaele carried the Govs with 42 yards on 11 carries and scored on a 10-yard run to cap a nine-play, 60-yard drive to prevent a first-half shutout.

Fonoti took the direct snap and scored on a 56-yard run on fourth-and-2 from their own 44. He also scored in the second half from the same formation from 59 yards out.

Kaimana Carvalho raced past Farrington defenders for a 83-yard punt return and his sixth interception on the season went 65 yards to the house that put Kahuku up, 42-6 at halftime and started running clock in the second half.

Noah Spencer was 4-for-9 for 44 yards and threw touchdown passes of 27 and 7 yards to Chansen Smith in the fourth quarter.

Chauncy Alo had five tackles. Zaden Mariteragi and Madden Soliai each had three tackles and a sack to lead the Red Raider defense.

Anelu Lafaele had three tackles that went for losses and a sack and Toren Pruitt had 4.5 tackles to lead the Govs' defense.

Kahuku won the most recent matchup on Oct. 23, 2021, 75-6.

Farrington joins Mililani (3-1 overall), Campbell (3-1 overall), and Punahou (3-0 overall) as the only Hawaii teams to score 20 or more points during Kahuku's dominant winning streak.

The Red Raiders will return to their OIA slate with Nanakuli (0-2 overall, 0-1 OIA) on Saturday, Sept. 23.

The Govs go to face Moanalua on Friday, Sept. 8.
