The stage is set for the Wally Yonamine Foundation Division II Baseball Championship.

Third-seeded Kauai will face off against reigning state champion Damien both were victorious in the semifinals Thursday afternoon and will square off against each other on Friday at Les Murakami Stadium in the D2 final. First pitch is slated for 4:07 p.m.

The Red Raiders, winners of the KIF, squeaked out a 2-1 walk-off victory over unseeded Waianae in the 10 a.m. semifinal on Thursday.

The Monarchs, the representative from the ILH, got off to an early lead over top-seeded Waipahu before staving off a late rally to win, 5-4.

It will be a rematch of the 2017 final, when Kauai won by a score of 5-4. The Red Raiders are seeking their fourth state title while the Monarchs are looking to win their third.

First baseman Joshua Rego played the hero in the Red Raiders' walk-off win. His only hit of the game came with two outs in the bottom of the seventh, which scored Aukai Arruda.

Kapono Sullivan earned the pitching win for the Red Raiders, striking out seven while scattering three hits and four walks in a complete game effort. His 109 pitches thrown was one under the pitch count limit.

Waianae starter Shysten Nagasako was tagged with the loss. He struck out 11 in 6 2/3 innings pitched and used 110 pitches.

The Red Raiders took the early lead in the bottom of the third after Austin Renaud drove in Radon Sebastian. Renaud led Kauai at the plate with three of its eight hits.

The Seariders tied it in the top of the seventh on Nainoa Nagum's squeeze bunt that brought Austin Jackson-Anderson home.

Damien got off to a 3-0 lead and never looked back in its semifinal win. The Monarchs benefitted from three straight walks to begin the game by Waipahu starter Chase Maruyama.

Francis O'Connor earned the win in 5 1/3 innings pitched. Aaron Rapoza came over from shortstop to get the final five outs and record his second save in as many days.

The Marauders outhit the Monarchs, 12 to 3, but they did commit three errors.

Kadence Barcenilla led Waipahu at the plate with a 3-for-3 performance with a double and run scored. He also came in relief of Maruyama and gave the Marauders four innings of work. The two runs charged against him were unearned.
