MANOA - After being held to three runs in its tournament opener on Tuesday, Waianae smashed three home runs in a 15-2 rout of third-seeded Baldwin Wednesday to advance to Thursday's 7 p.m. semifinal of the DataHouse Division I state softball tournament at Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.

The Seariders pounded out 16 hits to back the three-hit pitching of Jerzie Liana, who hit a three-run home run to left in the bottom of the second. It was her third of the season. Kehaulani Tambaoan-Kaeo hit her first homer of the year - a two-run shot to left - in a three-run third. Braiesey Rosa hit her sixth homer of the year, a solo shot in the fourth.

Liana held the Bears scoreless through six, but a bloop single behind second base by Kelia Kaaa-Saltiban scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh before she fanned Bailey Nagasako to end the game.

The Seariders had a 9-0 lead entering the seventh inning when they sent 10 batters to the plate for six runs. Rosa and Alize Tangaro-Smith each had two-run singles, while Liana and Teizsha Kaopuiki each added RBI singles in the frame.

Liana batted 3 for 4 with four RBIs, while Rosa was 2 for 5 with three RBIs.

Liana had allowed a base in three of the first four innings, but catcher Rosa demonstrated her arm strength by throwing out three runners trying to steal.
