A three-run second inning was the difference in No. 10 Kaiser's 4-1 win over Kalani at McKinley's Tiger Softball Stadium.

The Cougars rebounded from a 14-4 loss to division leader Moanalua (5-0) four days earlier and improved to 4-1 on the season.

The Falcons were dominating the competition through the first four games by an average of 13.7 runs before dropping to 4-1.

Pitcher Naomi Stremick doubled on a hard ground ball to right field to score Ashlyn Sera for the Falcons' only run of the game.

Stremick walked Keira Uegawachi, Paisley Kuba, and Kalie Otani to load the bases. Faced with two outs, Amai Hanta drew a walk to tie the game at 1. Yamasaki followed up with a single that dropped in shallow centerfield for two runs.

Rylee Yamasaki went 2-for-3 from the plate and drove in three runs overall.

Yamasaki had a sacrifice fly in the top of the fourth to bring in Trendee Kahunahana for the final run of the game.

Uegawachi pitched a complete game to pick up the win. She scattered five hits, the one run was unearned and walked four.

Naomi Stremick was tagged with the loss after pitching four innings. Kadie Carpio pitched the next three innings for two walks and two strikes.

Kaiser hosts Castle on Mar. 21 and Kalani faces Moanalua on the same afternoon.

Both teams are scheduled to meet again on Apr. 11 at Kaiser.
