Kailua edges Moanalua in OIA East league opener

Kailua opened its OIA East campaign with a 2-1 win on the road over Moanalua.

Masao Minami put the Surfers up two runs with a double to right in the top of the fourth that scored Cole Miller, one of just three hits for the visiting team in the whole game.

The other two hits came off the bat of Titan Kauhi, who also drove in the first run of the game for Kailua in first inning with a double of his own.

Three Kailua pitchers combined to allow just one run on six hits, with starter Kaimana Burgo earning the win and Zayne Hookala picking up the save.

Moanalua's lone run came in the bottom half of the fourth inning, where Na Menehune parlayed three singles and a walk into its only score of the game.
