Nanakuli rolls into Division II semis with rout of PAC-5

Nanakuli's balanced offensive attack rolled up nearly 500 yards of total offense and its defense did the rest in a 38-6 win over PAC-5 in the opening round of the First Hawaiian Bank/HHSAA Division II state football championships.

Allen Mahoe III scored three rushing touchdowns and Nathan Pele-Tukumoeatu needed just nine carries to rack up 135 rushing yards to lead the way for the Golden Hawks, who were held scoreless in the first quarter, but found the scoring groove in the final three quarters, with all five scores and a quartet of two-point conversions all coming via the run.

Nanakuli's passing attack accounted for 228 yards, with Hansen Salausa-Kaawa completing 14 of 22 passes for 216 yards to six different recievers. David Kalili led the way with five receptions for 59 yards.

Defensively, the Golden Hawks held the Wolfpack to just 101 yards of total offense, with a lone score late in the fourth quarter on a four yard plunge by Blade Kaululaau the only blemish to a strong effort. Lester Meyers III had five total tackles and two sacks and Cyprus Rombawa-Kai-Rivera added three tackles, an interception and four pass breakups to pace Nanakuli.

Kaululaau was a workhorse on defense for the Wolfpack in the loss, racking up 13 total tackles and an interception. Rome Lilio had the other pick for PAC-Five.
