KALIHI — Ikaika Kuaana-Lacno rushed for three scores and Chansen Smith added two more on the ground in Farrington's 42-0 win over Radford on homecoming night at Edward ‘Skippa' Diaz Stadium at Kusunoki Field Friday.

The Governors, since moving down to Division I, pick up their first league win to improve to 3-3 overall, 1-1 in the Oahu Interscholastic Association standings.

Kuaana-Lacno rushed for 118 yards on 11 carries and Smith had 43 yards on five carries as Farrington overpowered the Rams (1-4 overall, 0-3 OIA) with 283 net rushing yards and averaged 8.6 yards per carry.

Smith threw for 116 yards on 8-of-13 passing and no turnovers and Zechariah Molitau led all receivers with 85 yards.

Kamakana Tisalona-Perez returned a Ram punt 21 yards to the Radford 38. The Govs found the end zone four plays later after Molitau's 9-yard run and rushed for two for a 8-0 lead.

After the Rams punted again, Farrington went on a eight-play, 83-yard drive capped by Smith's 20-yard rushing touchdown.

The Rams lost starting quarterback Kalob Victorino-Avilla after he was sacked by LJ Liki in the second quarter at the 8:05 mark and did not return. He picked up three first downs in the air on a drive that started on their own 20 and finished the night 7 of 9 for 42 yards.

Naalii Nicholas-Mattos filled in at quarterback and the Rams got to the 13 but a bad snap was recovered by Zane Gaison.

The Govs turned the turnover into points with Kuaana-Lacno's 2-yard rushing score to cap a nine-play, 81-yard drive.

Willis Lilly tipped Nicholas-Mattos' pass and Jason Felipe intercepted it and Farrington wasted little time as Smith scrambled and found the end zone from 11 yards out but Elijah Falaniko blocked the kick as the Govs went up, 28-0.

Olijah Gomez returned the ensuing kick off 52 yards to the Farrington 38 and two plays later Michael Hayslett broke out for a 28-yard run to the 3 with 9 seconds left. A bad snap costed the Rams 15 yards and Nicholas-Mattos' pass was incomplete as Radford came up empty-handed going into halftime.

After Radford went three-and-out, Kuaana-Lacno rushed for a 6-yard score to start running clock. Farrington redeemed Draven Cachola's interception and Kuaana-Lacno ran in a 1-yard touchdown for the final points of the night.

Micah Ito had seven tackles to lead the Govs defense, Liki had two sacks and Cachola and Felipe each had an interception.

Nicholas-Mattos finished the night with 37 yards on 5-of-15 passing, but had eight tackles on defense. Hayslett finished with 113 all-purpose yards and Gomez had 73 kick off return yards in the loss.

Farrington goes on the road for the next three games and faces Castle (1-4 overall, 1-1 OIA) on Friday, Sept. 23. Radford has a two-game home stand starting with Kailua (1-2-1 overall, 1-1 OIA) on the same night.
