Alejado, Bishop Gorman crush Saint Louis

MILILANI—Micah Alejado threw five touchdown passes in the first half to lead Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas, Nevada) to a 56-14 blowout win over Saint Louis at Mililani's John Kauinana Stadium Friday.

The Gaels (2-1 overall), ranked eighth in the MaxPreps High School Football Rankings rebounded from a tough 24-21 loss to No. 2 Mater Dei (Santa Ana, California) last week.

The Crusaders dropped to 1-2 overall on the season.

Alejado, who grew up on Oahu before relocating to Vegas, finished with 293 yards on 18-of-22 passing, two of his five touchdowns went to Trech Kekahuna, who attended Saint Louis last year. Kekahuna made the most of his homecoming leading the team with six receptions for 106 yards.

Bishop Gorman amassed 587 yards of total offense while Saint Louis finished with 178.

Kekahuna scored on a 14-yard pass play from Alejado for the game's first points.

Following an interception by Jeremiah Hughes, the Gaels converted the turnover into points two plays later after Alejado's 9-yard touchdown pass to Elija Lofton.

After Saint Louis went three-and-out, Bishop Gorman answered with a four-play, 72-yard drive capped by Melvin Spicer IV's 59-yard touchdown pass to DeVon Rice for a 21-0 lead.

The Crusaders responded with a five-play, 80-yard drive and Kekahi Graham found Titan Lacaden for a 25-yard touchdown. The duo would connect again in the fourth quarter for Saint Louis' only points of the game.

Graham finished with 211 yards on 16-of-31 passing and was intercepted three times that led to Gael scores.

Bishop Gorman made it 28-7 following a 2-yard touchdown from Alejado to Zachariah Branch.

Elijah Palmer picked off Graham and the Gaels capitalized on the turnover with a 25-yard touchdown pass from Alejado to Micah Kaapana.

After another interception, this time by Charles Correa, the Gaels went up by 35 before halftime after Kekahuna hauled in a 39-yard score from Alejado.

Myles Norman rushed for 150 yards on seven carries in the second half and scored on 61 and 51 yard runs to extend the lead further for Bishop Gorman.

The Gael defense registered 11 tackle-for-losses and held the Crusaders to minus-33 yards of net rushing.

Jonah Leaea and Quincy Davis each had two sacks, Jamih Otis, a University of Hawaii commit, had three solo tackles, two for losses and sack for Bishop Gorman.

Tatum Tausaga led the Saint Louis defense with five solo tackles. Anelu Lafaele and Julian Savaiinaea each had a sack in the loss.

Up next for Bishop Gorman is at Hamilton (Chandler, Arizona) on Friday, Sept. 9.

Saint Louis begins Interscholastic League of Honolulu Open Division play at Kamehameha-Kapalama on Saturday, Sept. 10.

The Crusaders beat the Gaels in 2019, 31-19, but Bishop Gorman returned the favor by winning, 42-21 in 2021.
