KS-Hawaii serves up 25 aces in sweep of Honokaa

Kamehameha-Hawaii made quick work of Honokaa, serving up 25 aces in a runaway victory, 25-5, 25-10, 25-18, in midday action at Koaiʻa Gymnasium.

Eight different players served up at least two aces, with Maela Honma and Savanna Colliado leading the way with five a piece.

"Against Hilo we had a lot of errors, I think like 14 service errors, so we tried to minimize it today," said Honma. "The aces were good but I think we did a pretty good job serving to spots as well."

Honma also led the way with seven kills and Sarah Schubert added six more, as the starters made quick work of the first set. KS-Hawaii scored the first eight points in a row to open the game, as the Dragons struggled to get the sideout to chase the aforementioned Honma off the back line.

Reserves cycled in earnest in the second set, where the Warriors pulled away to a comfortable 15 point win, and the starters sat for basically the entire third set.

And in that final set, the Dragons went point for point with the Warriors, where it was tied at 16-16, but the home team closed the game out with 9-2 spurt to end the match.

League play continues for both teams, with four straight road games for KS-Hawaii through Sept. 6, while Honokaa looks to bounce back with a four-game home stand over the same stretch.
