Hawaii Prep began its title defense with a 3-0 win over Roosevelt in the opening round of the Niu Health Urgent Care Division II boys soccer championships held at the Waipio Peninsula Soccer Complex.

Aidan Santos scored in the 12th and 44th minutes, and Tau Khabele added another in the 20th as Ka Makani build a three goal margin in the first half en route to a clean sheet.

The win by the defending champs set up a matchup with Seabury Hall, a 5-1 winner over Radford.

Goals came early and often for the Spartans, with Duke Romanchak netting a hat trick with scores in the 18th, 19th and 71st minutes. Jame Haynes rounded out the tally with goals in the 25th and 31st.

The other side of the bracket in the Division II semifinals will feature Island School and Kamehameha-Hawaii.

AJ Galiza got the Voyagers on the board first in the 2nd minute before Waialua rallied to take a 2-1 lead on goals by Shane Kelly (5th) and Makoakai Fierro (13th). That lead would be short lived, as Carlos Lang equalized in the 18th and Sawyer Rogoff put Island School back in front for good in the 22nd.

Island School won the match, 7-2, with Galiza, Lang and Rogoff each netting a pair of goals, and Eddie Silliman capping off the scoring with a score in the 76th minute.

Kamehameha-Hawaii found itself tied at the end of the first half at one goal with ILH representaive Le Jardin, but pulled away late in the second half on goals by Everton Kuamoo (68th) and Elijah Dinkel (73rd) for a 3-1 victory.

Both semifinals are set to be played back at Waipio on Friday, this time in the Main Stadium, with Island School and Kamehameha-Hawaii getting things going at 1 p.m. followed by Hawaii Prep and Seabury Hall at 3 p.m.
