Pearl City charges to victory, state tournament berth

WAIANAE - Three players scored in double digits to lead Pearl City past Waianae, 46-24, Wednesday night, to capture third place in the Oahu Interscholastic Association and a Division II state tournament berth.

Shilee Scanlan led with 13 points, while Leslee Solomon and Lishae Scanland added 10 points each to lead the Chargers (4-9). The host Seariders (3-9), the West top seed in the tournament, are done for the season.

First round of the Heide & Cook state tournament starts Feb. 16.

With the game tied at 2 early in the first quarter, Kalaesha Deweever drained a 3-pointer for the Chargers, who never looked back. Deweever scored nine points.

Jaycee Westbrook-Cueto led Waianae with nine points.
