Jovi Funakoshi scored the game-winning basket off a pass from leading scorer Raini Mayo with under six seconds to play in overtime to lift Mililani over previously unbeaten Kaiser, 45-43, Monday evening in the OIA Division I girls basketball semifinals at James Alegre Gymnasium.

Mayo led all scorers with 21 points to power the Trojans (11-1 league) into Wednesday's championship against Campbell where they will try for their first-ever league crown.

Funakoshi finished seven points and Akemi Kawamata gave Mililani a big boost off the bench with eight points to round out Mililani's top scorers.

"It took a lot of guts and heart, and that's what this team has been all year long. We're lucky to survive," said Mililani coach Michael Oyama.

Trendee Kahunahana was the leading scorer for the Cougars (12-1) with 12 points, which included a game-tying 3-pointer with 18.6 left in the extra period.
