Damien showed off its outside shooting prowess in a 55-45 win over Hawaii Baptist, avenging its first loss handed to them by the Eagles on Jan 28.

The Monarchs hit 10 three-pointers as team, with four each by Kenna Wengler and Tiare Arquero. The perimeter scoring outburst by Wengler (14 points) and Arquero (13 points) offset a season-low mark by leading scorer Theresa Anakalea, who was held to just 10 points.

Hawaii Baptist found the range from long distance as well, with Kaitlyn Maruya hitting four threes of her own for a team-high 13 points. Emi Wada chipped in 12 points and a three as well in the loss.

A key absence for the Eagles was post Hayley Taka, who did not dress for the contest. Her physicality in the post definitely handcuffed Hawaii Baptist in the paint, where Shastyne and Shayna Selesele found the going a bit easier without Taka on the floor.

The final margin of victory was 10, but could have been larger had it not been for sub-par shooting at the free throw line, where the Monarchs managed to hit on just 3 of 12 attempts.
