KALIHI—Jonathan Breceda kicked a 23-yard field goal with 35 seconds remaining and Leilehua denied Farrington on their Homecoming night to win, 9-6 at Edward 'Skippa' Diaz Stadium at Kusunoki Field Friday.

After moving up from Division I following the 2019 season, the Mules picked up their first Oahu Interscholastic Association Open Division win in 2021 to improve to 1-4.

The Governors dropped their fifth-straight game to remain winless on the season.

Leilehua got the ball back on the Farrington 40 with 3:54 remaining in the fourth quarter. Kristin Arindain got down to the Govs' 1 but were pushed back due to a penalty.

Breceda, who missed the PAT earlier, connected on the 23-yard field goal with 35 seconds left in the game to break a 6-all tie.

On the ensuing kickoff, Malouamaua Faleao returned it down to the Leilehua 45 with 26 seconds remaining. The Govs moved 15 yard forward after a pass interference penalty near the end zone. Marcus Moreno completed a pass to Zechariah Molitau, but his pass intended for Josiah Chaffin fell incomplete.

Jason Felipe initially had a 42-yard field goal attempt, but was pushed back five yards due to a penalty. The holder could not handle the snap and was trampled by Mules to end the game.

Jett Cabal led all rushers with 103 yards on 17 carries, Brayden Furtado hauled in a team-high five catches for 64 yards, and Keawe Andres scoring the team's only touchdown to go along with 15 yards for the Mules.

Leilehua converted a fourth down on a 21-yard run from Aliiolani Kahanu on the punt attempt. Furtado set up Arindain's 6-yard touchdown pass to Andres, but the kick failed for a 6-0 lead going into halftime.

Chaffin intercepted Arindain and the Govs' turned the turnover into points after Faleao hauled in a 35-yard touchdown pass from Moreno, but the kick was blocked to tie the game at 6.

Moleau caught five passes for 57 yards and Molitau added 47 yards and four catches and rushed for 41 yards in defeat.

The Mules had an opportunity to score with a pass intended for Jacob Gamponia, but Blaze Ganotise made an interception in the end zone. However, the Govs gave it back to the Mules that set up their game-winning drive.

Leilehua closes out their season with a home game against Kapolei (1-4) on Friday, Nov. 26 while Farrington travels to Mililani (3-1) on Nov. 27 to wrap up their season.
