Pearl City survives late rally on road against Nanakuli

Pearl City built an early lead then held off Nanakuli down the stretch to post a 14-13 road win and improve to 2-2 on the year.

Caleb Kaai was a workhorse for the Chargers, toting the ball 23 times for 141 yards.

Mark Moreno got the visiting Chargers on the board at the 2:12 mark of the first with a one yard run, and Sefo Feesago added a six yard keeper to pad the lead to 12-0 with 1:39 left in the half.

A failed conversion on the first score forced Pearl City to go for two on it second score, and the successful attempt, a pass from Feesago to Joshua Gleason, ended up being the margin of victory.

Nanakuli added a score in the late stages of the first half on a 14 yard run by Keahi Ah Sui and Micah Nihoa added the point after to make the score 14-7 at the intermission.

Then in the third quarter, Joseph Lewis crossed the goal line at the 3:24 mark to get the home team with a point, but the conversion attempt failed.

Nanakuli outgained Pearl City offensively, 420 yards to 240, with Ah Sui accounting for 333 of that total.
