Top Performers Flashback: Micah Kaneshiro

In what was an up and down season in the win-loss column for Moanalua in 2013, quarterback Micah Kaneshiro definitely did what he could to buoy Na Menehune offensively.

The senior signal caller parlayed a week of great practices into a great game on Sept. 14, 2013, a 40-13 win over Kaimuki. Kaneshiro completed 29 of his 48 passes for a then career-high 417 yards with six touchdowns and no interceptions at Kaiser Stadium.

He eclipsed that mark with a 475 passing yards performance against Farrington a week later and finished off the year with 303 yards against Castle and another 294 against Leilehua. In all, Kaneshiro topped the 270 yard mark in eight of nine contests in 2013, the lone exception being the season opener against Mililani.

Against the Bulldogs, Kaneshiro benefitted from three 100-yard receivers in Chad Aragon (11 catches, 177 yards), Jason Sharsh (4 catches, 114 yards) and Donald Lambert (7 catches, 103 yards) against Kaimuki. He connected with Lambert on three touchdown passes, Aragon two and Sharsh one.

Named OIA East Division I co-offensive player of the year at the end of the 2013 season along with Farrington running back Sanele Lavatai, Kaenshiro led all D1 passers in completions (230), attempts (403), yards (2726) and ranked second in touchdowns with 25. He was also an All-Hawaii Division I honorable mention selection.
