Castle rebounds to hold off Moanalua

SALT LAKE — Castle (1-1) scored two runs in the fifth inning and held off Moanalua (0-2) the rest of the way to win, 2-1, in an Oahu Interscholastic Association East matchup at Na Menehune's field Saturday afternoon.

Kela Harbottle sent a line drive single to center field and then stole second base. Ian Rivera scored Harbottle on a fielder's choice for a 1-0 Castle lead.

Axel Puls reached on a fielder's choice then stole second. Baron Arquero, who went 1 for 3, doubled on a line drive to drive in a run to make it 2-0.

Kaena Miyataki was hit by a pitch and Blayze Wise came in as a courtesy runner. Wise made his way to third on a throwing error by the right fielder and Landon Kimura plated the run with a single to left field to get Moanalua on the scoreboard.

Keegan Kamaunu got the win for the Knights, going four a 2/3 innings while scattering two hits with two strikeouts.

Tiger Yonamine picked up the save pitching one complete inning on 17 pitches and got a key pick off at first in the bottom of the seventh. Yonamine struck out Aidan James Killion and Trent Nakata flew out to center to end the game.

Shane Cachola went the distance throwing 90 pitches, scattering three hits, while striking out four and walking four in the loss.
