Warriors blank Cougars in first preseason tune-up

In the first preseason action for both the defending state champions and the OIA East contenders, visiting Kamehameha notched a relatively easy 3-0 win over Kaiser.

The Warriors played the match using a lot of new players after losing the likes of forward D'awncey Jones-Black, midfielder Kaulana Kanno, and goal keepers Chaylea Tome and Caela Kaio.

Kamehameha opened the scoring when freshman Kamryn Kaleiohi-Haia finished from up close. A few minutes later, junior Justice Colburn crossed from the right side and freshman Keely Kahana found the back of the net to make it 2-0.

Kaiser keeper Madison Mora saved two shots on goal in the first half.

The Cougars started the second half off with their first real chance of the game. Senior Alyssa Leong latched onto a through ball and ran down the field 35 yards, but her shot went just over the bar.

Kaiser made a goal keeper change in the second half, putting in sophomore Malia Felix, who came up big with two one on one saves against Kamehameha's forwards.

However, Kamehameha would eventually find the back of the net one last time when Charis Marie Ramos beat Felix one on one. Kaeliah Kahana held the ball up and laid off a perfect ball that Ramos easily finished off.
