Punahou fends off Kamehameha-Hawaii

Kaia Dunford put down 15 kills with 15 digs and Madisyn Beirne added 14 kills to power Punahou over third-seeded Kamehameha-Hawaii in the quarterfinals of the New City Nissan Division I Girls Volleyball Championships at McKinley's Student Council Gymnasium Thursday night.

Isabelle Iosua chipped in 10 kills with three blocks as the Buffanblu (12-2) won by set scores of 25-12, 21-25, 25-20 and 25-23.

Punahou moves on to take on second-seeded Mililani in the second semifinal at Moanalua Friday night.

Nani Spaar had 18 kills with 12 digs to lead the Warriors (15-1) in their first loss this season.
