Mules wallop Rams to close out regular season

Paced by Kekoa Turangan's four scores in the first half, Leilehua took down Radford, 54-6, to finish the OIA regular season with an 8-1 record.

Turangan. a senior quarterback, scored the game's opening points on a one yard plunge, then threw for three more, including a 78 yard connection with Kalei Akagi in the opening moments of the second quarter and a 53 yarder to Jonathan Vasquez at the 5:42 mark before the half.

The Mules closed out the half with a two yard rush by Alex Ishmael to take a 40-0 lead into halftime.

It continued to be all Leilehua coming out of the intermission, as Ethan Kuth took the opening kickoff 80 yards to make it a 47-0 contest, and the Mules tacked on its final score of the game as Konapiliahi Raymond scored from three yards out with 10:31 left to play to make it 54-0.

Radford avoided the shutout, however, getting on the board via a one yard fumble recovery by Maa Sunia-Pase at the 3:08 mark of the fourth.

Kawela Kaluhiokalani led all rushers with 88 yards on 12 carries and also scored on a one yard plunge. Akagi added 91 yards on three receptions and Vasquez 76 yards on his three catches.

Ashton Raquino led the Mules' defense with eight tackles, a sack and two fumble recoveries.
