Kailua got back on the winning track with a 26-14 victory over Radford at Alex Kane Stadium Friday, buoyed by a pair of Hasting Yee Hoy touchdown runs and a key Jayden Kamakele interception return for touchdown.

Cameron Friel connected with Koalii Kohatsu for a 48 yard touchdown to open up the game's scoring at 6:08 mark of the first quarter.

Radford equalized through the air on a Kalob Victorino-Avilla to Kendall Saxton connection from 17 yards out in the waning seconds of the first.

Deadlock ensued until Yee Hoy broke through from 2 yards out with 22 ticks left until halftime to put the Surfriders back in front. The PAT was blocked, sending both teams to the locker room with the home team up 13-7.

Kamakele's pick six gave Kailua the cushion it needed at the 4:47 mark of the third, making it 20-7, but it was short lived as Damon Nelson raced the ensuing kickoff back the other way 84 yards to trim the lead right back to a single score.

That would be as close as the Rams would get however, as Yee Hoy put the game all but out of reach with a second plunge from 2 yards out midway through the fourth.

The win ended a four game skid for the Surfriders that dated back to October 5, 2018, when the Kailua edged Aiea, 17-14. Incidentally, Radford's last win? Over Nanakuli, 29-22, on the same date.
