Cougars corral Chargers, improve to 2-0

Easton Yoshino threw for 126 yards and two scores in Kaiser's dominating 33-7 win over Pearl City.

Ethan Domen set the tone for Cougars for the second straight contest, as he picked off a pass on the Chargers' opening drive and took it back 41 yards for a score.

From there, the Kaiser offense took over, as Yoshino connected with Dre Falls on a 24 yard pitch and catch to increase the lead to 14-0 at the 7:19 mark of the first quarter, and Kyler Halvorsen added a 24 yard field goal to make it a 17 point margin in the waning moments of the first.

Midway through the second quarter, Easton found his brother Mason on a 14 yard lob to the right corner of the endzone to make it a 24-0 contest, and the Cougars added two more points via safety, when a botched snap forced the Chargers to fall on the live ball in the endzone.

Pearl City put together a nice drive in the back half of the third, then cashed in on the first play of the fourth, as a pass from Isaiah Cruz-Ameperosa to a wide open Joshua Gleason got the Chargers on the board, 26-7.

That would be as close as the Chargers would get, as the Cougars ultimately went into ground and pound mode to milk the clock in the final minutes of the contest, capping the win on a 15 yard TD run off right tackle by Ethan Lynch in the final minute.

Cavin Lime carried the ball 8 times for 78 yards and added a sack in the win for the Cougars.
