KAPIOLANI — Kameron Ng scored 22 points after halftime to help lead the Saints to a 57-46 victory over the Raiders and force an Interscholastic League of Honolulu overall third place playoff between the two teams for the league's final state tournament berth.

Maryknoll and Punahou had already secured two of the league's three Snapple/HHSAA Division I State Championship after finishing in the top two ILH Division I spots both for the first round season and second round tournament.

Monday evening's match at Iolani's Lower Gym was for third place in the second round tournament. Iolani finished the first round in the No. 3 spot and a win over Saint Francis would have given them the final state tournament spot.

Instead, Kameron Ng exploded for 29 points and went 13 for 16 at the free-throw line in the Saints' victory to force an overall playoff game Wednesday between the two teams again at 6 p.m. at Iolani. Kordel Ng followed with 14 points, six rebounds and three assists.

Kawika Lee led the Raiders with 16 points and seven rebounds while going a perfect 7 for 7 at the charity stripe.

Iolani had the lead only twice, which came early in the game at the 3-2 and 6-5 scoring mark. The Raiders were able to close the deficit down to just a three points at the end of the third quarter in which they outscored the Saints 14 to 9.

Saint Francis went on a 10-3 run to start the final period and never looked back as the lead never got smaller than six points the rest of the way.

This was the fourth meeting this season between both squads. Iolani had come away victorious in each of the previous three games.
