No. 6 Moanalua rallies past Kahuku

Geremy Robinson scored 15 of his game-high 25 points in the first half to lead No. 6 Moanalua to a 66-58 win over Kahuku in an Oahu Interscholastic Association Division I semifinal at McKinley's Student Council Gymnasium Monday night.

Na Menehune (12-1) rallied from six-point deficit midway through the third quarter with a 17-0 run to pull away for their 12th consecutive win. They will play No. 8 Kailua in the tournament final at 7 p.m. Wednesday at McKinley.

The Red Raiders (9-5) saw their three-game win streak snapped and will visit No. 7 Kapolei in the third-place game at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Kahuku held an early 10-2 first-quarter lead, but Moanalua went on an 11-0 run to close out the first quarter.

The Red Raiders led by as many as six points at 43-37 midway through the third quarter, but Na Menehune answered with an 17-0 run to pull ahead 56-45 early in the fourth.

Elijah McGruder scored 10 points and Isaiah Sugiura and DiAeris McRaven added eight apiece for East top-seeded Moanalua.

Robbie Sauvao had 12 points and Ethan Erickson 11 to lead Kahuku, the third seed out of the Eastern Division. Lokana Enos scored all nine of his points on 3-pointers before halftime.

Moanalua led at halftime, 31-30.

Kahuku hit eight 3-pointers and shot 10 of 17 from the free-throw line.

Moanalua was just 12-of-26 shooting on free throws.
