No. 1 Iolani runs past Maui in quarterfinals

The top-seeded team in the tournament and top-ranked team in the state looked the part Thursday night.

Iolani outscored Maui in every quarter and saw five players finish in double figures as the Raiders rolled to a 67-32 win in the quarterfinals of the Snapple/HHSAA Division I Girls Basketball Championships at Moanalua.

The Raiders (21-3 overall, 11-1 ILH D1) will meet No. 8 Konawaena, winners of the last four state titles, in the second semifinal at Stan Sheriff Center Friday night. Game time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.

Lily Lefotu Wahinekapu scored 14 points with seven boards, Taylor Wu had 13 points with five assists and Alexis Huntimer chipped in 10 points with five boards and four steals as the three Iolani starters to finish with 10 points or more.

Reserves Shyann "Kawai" Kahalehoe and Jovi Wahinekapu Lefotu added 11 points each to round out the top scorers for the Raiders.

Kylenna Rieta had seven points, six rebounds, three assists and the Sabers' lone made 3-pointer to lead Maui (13-11 overall, 8-7 MIL D1) in the loss.
