After missing out on the OIA Division I semifinals, the Campbell Sabers became the only OIA team to make the state semis Thursday night.

No. 8 Campbell scored twice in the final eight minutes of regulation to stun No. 3 Aiea, 2-0, in the quarterfinals of the Queen's Medical Center/HHSAA Girls Soccer Championships at Waipio Peninsula Soccer Stadium.

Sophomore Jourdyn Curran found the back of the net in the 72nd minute and freshman Cheyenne Mattos scored five minutes later to send the Sabers into the semifinals where they will meet Konawaena Friday at 5:00 p.m. The other semifinal will feature top-seeded Kamehameha against Kekaulike.

Campbell avenged a 2-1 regular season loss to Na Alii with the win. Aiea was playing in its first match since winning the OIA championship on Jan. 19 while the Sabers recorded a 1-0 first round win against Kamehameha-Maui on Monday.

It's worth noting that Aiea employed a different lineup than usual against the Sabers because one of their two center backs, Briana Yamada, suffered a torn ACL in the league's championship match.

Na Alii played Savannah Breeze Miranda (nine goals) and Nicole Olanda (seven goals) at the two center back positions and tried to utilize sophomore defender Phoenix Dawn Miranda's speed in an attacking position.
