No. 11 Moanalua pulls away from No. 13 Damien

Five interceptions for the Moanalua defense led to Na Menehune's fifth straight win Friday night.

No. 11 Moanalua (5-0 overall, 4-0 league) continued its winning ways with a 31-13 win over No. 13 Damien (3-3, 3-2) in an interleague matchup at Radford's John E. Velasco Stadium.

Keanu Kekawa and Christian Sison each had two picks and Aukai Grace added another to help Moanalua ground the Monarchs' offense. Kekawa also scored on a 41-yard interception return to tie the game at 7 with 2:20 to play in the first quarter.

Na Menehune's offense got on the board in the second quarter when quarterback Nick Au threw touchdown passes to Ezra Grace and Drayden Von Oelhoffen to give Moanalua a 21-7 lead at the break.

Damien scored first in the second half on a Logan Lauti 25-yard TD run, but never found the end zone the rest of the way. A TD pass to Javon Monico and a 38-yard field goal by Griffin Motas helped seal the deal for Na Menehune.

Au completed 29 of 46 passes in the win, throwing for 280 yards and three scores against one interception. His favorite target of the night was Rudy Kealohi, who caught 11 passes for 109 yards.
