For the fourth year, the Major League Baseball franchise Atlanta Braves will hold a free tryout baseball camp Friday, June 29 at Mililani High School starting at 11 a.m. Check-in time is at 10:15 a.m.

The objective of the camp is to sign players but also to identify potential prospects. High school players from the 2019–2022 classes are invited to attend for evaluation, but it is also open to players ages 16–23.

2015 was the first year Braves Area Scouting Supervisor (Hawaii and Southern California) Dan Cox began hosting the annual summer tryout in Hawaii, in which nearly 140 baseball players attended at Keehi Lagoon. The Braves also returned in 2016 at Hans L'Orange Park and in 2017 at Mililani High School.

Although there weren't openings in the Braves farm system for anyone to be signed last year, Cox told players that injuries and releases do happen so the exposure and scouting reports could help in being signed as undrafted free agents.

Cox has also helped players get connected with colleges as well as professional independent leagues.

Players who have previously piqued Cox's interest were Ashkhon Kuhaulua (Kamehameha '07), Kaimana Souza-Paaluhi (Mililani '16), Kobie Russell (Waipahu '17), Marcus Doi (Mid-Pacific '13) and Christian DeJesus (Kamehameha '19).

Cox is an Aiea High School 1991 graduate who worked his way up through the system and has also had scouting stints with the Minnesota Twins and Toronto Blue Jays.

Participants must supply their own gloves and shoes. Bats and balls will be provided.

All attendees must sign a waiver, which can be downloaded from the Braves website. Also, American Legion players must present a permission letter from their post commander.
