Hall of Honor to induct newest class on June 3

Twelve student-athletes from all five statewide leagues make up the 2018 class of the Enterprise Rent-A-Car/Hawaii High School Athletic Association Hall of Honor.

The group — made up of nine girls and three boys — was chosen from amongst a group of 63 applicants by a 16-person selection committee made up of current and former sports reporters, coaches and athletic directors. Each individual will receive a $2,000 scholarship courtesy of Enterprise Rent-A-Car.

The induction class is as follows:

• Saydee Aganus, Kamehameha-Hawaii (basketball, track and field)
• Teniya Alo, Hawaii Technology Academy (wrestling, judo)
• Corey Cabanban, Saint Louis (wrestling)
• Andre Ilagan, Farrington (tennis)
• Taegan Keep, Kauai (basketball, track and field)
• Gwen Maeha, Leilehua (bowling, softball)
• Cherilyn Molina, Konawaena (basketball, volleyball, track and field)
• Taysia Pimental, Seabury Hall (canoe paddling, track and field)
• Mikayla Tablit, Konawaena (basketball, track and field)
• Ally Wada, Hawaii Baptist (volleyball, basketball, track and field)
• Ryan Wilcox, Punahou (volleyball)
• Veronica Winham, Seabury Hall (cross country, track and field)

The class will be inducted at an awards dinner on Sunday, June 3, 5 p.m. at the Pomaikai Ballrooms.

The keynote speaker will be Kevin Wong, a former professional volleyball player and beach volleyball analyst for NBC Sports at the 2012 and 2016 Summer Olympics Games. Wong, a Punahou School graduate, was inducted into the Hall of Honor in 1990.

It is the 36th consecutive year the Hall of Honor has recognized the top twelve senior student-athletes in the state. A complete list of inductees, dating back to the inaugural class of 1983, can be found here.
