What a dramatic finish.

Colby Chun scored on a breakaway layup in the closing seconds of regulation and University Lab defeated host Damien, 42-40, in an Interscholastic League of Honolulu Division II contest Tuesday night.

Leif Fautanu and Otto Taylor added 12 and 11 points respectively to help the Jr. Bows improve to 3-2 in league play.

The score was tied, 40-40, with 10.1 to play after Dimonyai Lacey sunk two free throws for Damien. Immediately afterward, Chun was able to get loose and go the length of the floor before making the game-winning basket while getting fouled.

Chun missed the ensuing free throw, Damien got the rebound, turned it over on a deep throw, but got the ball back with just seconds remaining.

On the next inbounds play, Fautanu nearly sealed the deal with an interception, but the ball went off of his hands and went out of bounds with 0.2 seconds left.

Lacey got the ball near the left side outside of the painted area and got his basket to go in, but the officials said that the ball never left his hand when time expired and University Lab walked away with the victory.

Kolin Galdiano knocked down four triples for 12 points and Lacey added 12 more points to lead the Monarchs (2-2 ILH D2) in the loss.
