KAPOLEI — Thomas Mascaro-Keahi and Sean Yoshida scored two goals apiece and goalkeeper Jason Catron made seven saves to lead Kapolei to a resounding 4-0 win over visiting Pearl City Friday night.

The Hurricanes, No. 6 in the ScoringLive/Hawaiian Electric Boys Soccer Power Rankings, netted three second-half goals to notch their fourth consecutive win. They improved to 7-1 on the season and took over sole possession of second place in the Oahu Interscholastic Association Division I West standings.

The eighth-ranked Chargers (6-2) saw their five-game win streak snapped. They entered in a three-way tie for second place, but fell to fourth with the loss.

"It feels really good. We know we're making progress, so our work on and off the field is finally showing," said Catron, who was instrumental in Kapolei's seventh shutout on the year.

Pearl City was held scoreless for just the second time this season. It was averaging just under six goals a game and was coming off a 12-0 rout of Aiea Tuesday.

"I think that brings a lot of confidence to our defense," Catron added. "Our defense has been working hard day in and day out and I think it showed tonight what they could do."

Mascaro-Keahi was assisted by Eric Aquino on both of his goals. His header in the 17th minute was his fifth goal of the season and opened the scoring Friday.
